Successfully negotiated hundreds of contracts and dozens of transactions in the health care industry. These have involved a wide spectrum of structures; from complex multi-party joint ventures, to buying and selling hospitals and physician practices, to commercial leases, to ancillary and software service contracts, to professional services agreements, to simple operations and employment agreements.
Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement
Experienced in federal, state, and private health insurance programs. Represented clients for many years in complying with and navigating all types of reimbursement requirements; including billing issues, business structuring and conditions of participation.
Managed Care Contracting and Risk-based Reimbursement
Led numerous negotiations in major managed care relationships, and reviewed and advised clients on many more. Adept at balancing an organization’s business and financial needs with the negotiating weaknesses small providers tend to have in discussions with large insurance companies. He is also well-versed in the economics and compliance considerations of structuring Value-Based payment mechanisms.
Healthcare Corporate Compliance
Structured and led compliance efforts in several organizations. This includes implementation of the 7-pillar OIG standards in health care compliance, as well as compliance issues outside of health care that are relevant to the business.
Human Subject Research, Clinical Trial and PI Agreements
Led negotiations for providers and principal investigators in contract negotiations with drug companies and their contract research organizations (CROs) to assist in converting research readiness into revenue opportunity.
